I just wanted to be there for him
I was unsure of what to do for help when my husband’s Alzheimer’s got so bad I could no longer leave him alone. We had always planned to be together until the end, and even though I don’t think he remembers, it meant a lot to me personally to keep that promise to him. I love him and I just wanted to have him with me and be there for him.
When I called HomeChoice the lady that answered was so helpful and reassuring, I felt better immediately – like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Megan came out to meet us and gave us a plan that allows me to still get out when I need to with the peace of mind that Larry is safe at home with a caregiver. They have even stayed the whole weekend with him once when I attended a family wedding out of state. When the caregiver came out for the first time he was so good at entertaining Jim that I had no issues getting out of the house to run errands and when I got home Jim was in a great mood and smiling from ear to ear.
